- Sulfuric Acid Method: This is an alternative production method for ammonium bifluoride. It can be prepared by the dehydrogenation of diethanolamine using a strong acid. Water and ethanol are also produced as byproducts.
- Bis(Chloroethyl) Ether Method: This is an older production method for ammonium bifluoride. It can be prepared by heating an excess of ammonia with bis(chloroethyl) ether. Hydrochloric acid and ethylene glycol are also produced in this process.
