PAPEMP

Papemp, also known as poly(aminoethyl ethylene phosphonic acid), is an organic compound with the formula C2H8NO7P. It is a polymer used as a water treatment agent. It has high chelating and dispersion effects, high calcium tolerance, and good scale inhibitor properties. It is used as an antiscalant and corrosion inhibitor in cooling water systems and refineries under conditions of high hardness, alkalinity, and pH. It prevents the formation of scale such as calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, and calcium phosphate.

Chemical and Physical Properties of Papemp:

  • Molecular Weight: 206.05 g/mol
  • Melting Point: None
  • Boiling Point: None
  • Density: 1.25 g/mL
  • Solubility: Highly soluble in water
  • pKa Value: 9.5

Production Method of Papemp:

  • Polymerization Method: This is the most common method for producing Papemp. The aminoethyl ethylene phosphonic acid monomer is polymerized into the Papemp polymer through a polymerization reaction initiated by heat or light. Some inhibitors are also used in this process.

Applications of Papemp:

  • Antifreeze: Papemp is a component of antifreeze formulations. It is used as a heat transfer agent in automotive, computer, and cooling systems. It lowers the freezing point and raises the boiling point when mixed with water. It also helps prevent corrosion.
  • Polyester Fiber Production: Papemp is an important raw material in polyester fiber production. It is esterified with terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate to produce polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET is then melted or crystallized to form polyester fibers.
  • Plastic Industry: Papemp is used in the plastic industry. It is used in the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles. Additionally, Papemp is used in the production of polyurethane foams.
  • Natural Gas Plants: Papemp is used in natural gas plants for drying and purifying natural gas. It is also used to prevent icing in natural gas pipelines.
  • Tanning and Pharmaceutical Industries: Papemp is used in the tanning industry to soften and protect leather. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used to coat tablets and enhance their solubility.
